New Year, New Goals

New year of course I have new goals.  I am currently working on my new vision board. I am proud to announce that my vision board from two years ago is still a work in progress . I have my townhouse that I placed on my vision board and it is exactly as I wrote it down in my goals. I wanted it to be close to the school. This has been a huge blessing.  Not only is it close to their school, it is also close to so many trails and outdoor activities.  After 4 or some years of juicing and exercising at home, I joined a studio and I have been trying different workout activities and yoga. I have to say my favorite so far has been yoga. Very challenging yet easy on my body.  It has only been 1.5 weeks since I joined. I have two reasons for joining. The first is obvious, to try something new and push my body. The next is to make friends, I have been very dedicated to raising my two kids that I have no real friendships. I just got very comfortable at home and in my safe place.  Last buy not least on my goal sheet is to blog. I don't know who will read this  blog but whoever does I hope that it inspires them to make some needed changes.

Well here is to the new year and lets make this a great year. Lets kick ass.

Discipline

I never knew discipline until recently.I am not talking about the type of discipline that a parent instills in their kids when they are not behaving appropriately. I am talking about self-discipline. The kind that successful people talk about and have actually placed it into action. I can go on and on about what I did or didn't do as a child and later as a young adult and how it wasn't instilled in me. But instead I want to tell you how as an adult in the last two years it has helped me.

I remember seeing people or hearing of people that wake up super early and when I did the first thing that would come to my head and then my mouth was “oh I could never do that I am not a morning person”. What I failed to realize is that no one is a morning person you make yourself a morning person by disciplining yourself to get up and get going. It was a hard pill to swallow because I realized how many opportunities I had missed because of my false thinking and lack of discipline.

Over last few months and actually the last 3 years I have slowly acquired discipline. It started with getting up early to make our juice and take our vitamins, later it transitioned and added on working out for 30 minutes a day and to what I do now. I wake up at 4:30ish (still working on it) and go down stairs and make my coffee. I sit down and read a book for about 45 minutes. I then walk myself back upstairs and get ready to exercise. I get on my elliptical for 40 minutes and sometimes if I am really motivated 60 minutes. Once I am done I start to get ready for work. One thing that helped is that my 7 and 9 year old are pretty independent. Yes, I planned it that way but that's a topic for another day and another time.

Discipline they say is getting up and doing the things that no one else is doing. But let me tell you it's a work in progress because just like everyone else there are days I just don't want to get up and get going but I remember all the wasted years and that helps me plant my feet on the ground and go.

The Plan

Day 4 of incorporating Isagenix into my life. So far so good. But I better explain my morning routine which is the most complicated. I wake up at 4:30 AM, yes you read that right. For some of you older people 4:30AM is not so strange but for you younger folk 4:30AM sounds a bit insane. The 4:30 AM wake up call is recent. It was one of my goals for this year. I go downstairs and take my Iso Supreme and drink my water. Some days I make our green juice and then go upstairs to start my workout and other days I do my workout first then make the juice, I wake the kids up after my workout which is usually 6:00 AM or 6:15 AM. It just depends if I do 50 minutes on elliptical or 60. After my workout I drink a NUM which is a 10 calorie drink with my vitamins. One day I will write out all the vitamins I take. Isagenix has a hydrating drink similar to the NUM but it's more calories and aren't we trying to cut out the calories.  After taking my many vitamins I go back upstairs to shower and get ready. Of course the kids, dogs and the parakeets are up and fully awake. Its up to the kids to get themselves ready, this has been since they were young. Independence is key to a stress free zone.  Wow, I am already had a full day between 4.30 AM and 7:30 AM. It's been a journey on a slow bumpy road to get to this point. If you had given me Isagenix 1 or 2  years ago I would not have made it to the fourth day.  I can tell you I was not disciplined back then and I have had to work on it and continue to work on it. Discipline is key with any type of diet or program. If you don't have that then you are not going to get very far.

Today is the Day!

Today is the day I start Isagenix. I have been on a health journey for 4 years. I gradually started my journey but despite all I have done and continue to do I can lose the fat around my stomach. So, with that I decided to try this product and see if it does anything for me.

I am following it the best I can and today is day one. The exception is that I am not willing to give up my healthy blended juice in the morning which has done wonders for me and my children. So, I am incorporating it into the Isagenix routine. Let's see how it goes. I am going to continue to exercise on my elliptical 5 times a day for 60 minutes.

The Isagenix shake I choose to go with is the Berry non-dairy flavor which is more expensive. But I don't do dairy and I don's like vanilla or chocolate drinks.  I have to admit I wasn't all to happy that because the product is non dairy it is more expensive.

I have downloaded an app to keep me on track. It's called Cleanse Tracker, it does not have the best reviews but it will do for now. I have also created an Isagenix calendar in my google calendar to help me keep track and stay on track.

I took the before pictures and my measurements. I will post new pictures along with the before in a week to show my progress. Wish me luck!

Why this blog?

Why this blog? It's been a long time coming. I have been wanting to do this for such along time. Why have I been apprehensive? Well, because I want it to be honest, real and helpful. I have been on this journey for the last 3  years. It has been a step by step process that has helped me and my 2 kids. As a single parent, not by choice (I may or may not explain this later in a separate post). This journey has been difficult and rewarding. There are so many parts to this journey, I am not quite sure where to begin. I hope that as I continue to blog I can tell and recall as much as I can so I  may inspire and encourage you to take the little steps that led me to bigger steps. I don’t want you to compare yourself to me but to see that changes can be made. Although, they may seem impossible at some point, that one day you will look in the mirror and say “Dam, I did it or I am doing it. Yes, I have done that and cried, I have looked in that mirror so many times and been amazed at how far I have gotten. Because if you want to get anywhere in life you need to do it yourself, don’t wait for others to do for you. That’s just unrealistic and honestly you will be waiting along time. Ultimately, you're the one that needs to do for you what needs to be done. End of story!
